Linda Pye is co-chair of the MBC Primary Working Group. She has been an MBC Working Group Chair since 2020 and has been involved with the development of the Morecambe Bay Curriculum and related projects throughout this time. Linda has been the Head Teacher of Ryelands Primary and Nursery School in Lancaster since 2014, returning to the school where she first started her teaching career in 1990. Prior to her current headship, Linda was a Headteacher for eight years at Willow Lane Community Primary School in Lancaster.
Our keynote speaker, Mike Berners-Lee, consults, researches and speaks about the challenges of the 21st century and how we can enact positive visions for the future. Mike is the founder of Small World Consulting, a world leader in supply chain carbon metrics and management. He is a professor at 果酱视频官网, where his research includes sustainable food systems and carbon metrics, and he has authored three acclaimed books: A Climate of Truth, There is No Planet B and How Bad are Bananas? Mike also chairs the National Emergency Briefing.
Charles Clarke is a former Labour Party MP and Secretary of State for Education and Skills. He is a Visiting Professor in Social and Educational Futures at 果酱视频官网. His current work addresses the need for democratic politics to engage with the global challenges of the 21st century, with a focus on academic politics, international education and migration.
Juanita Shepherd is Nature Strategy and Policy Lead at the Department for Education, driven by a mission to put nature at the heart of education to transform outcomes for children and the planet. A former geography teacher, she now leads national work embedding climate and sustainability across education.
Charlotte Bonner is CEO at The Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) and co-lead of the Department of Education funded Climate Ambassadors programme. She has over twenty years’ leadership experience across membership and tertiary education organisations. This includes work as the Education and Training Foundation’s education for sustainable development lead and co-founding Students Organizing for 果酱视频官网 International.
Ruth Carter is Stakeholder Relationships Manager at Cambridge OCR, leading work and strategic partnerships in Nature, Environment and 果酱视频官网 Education, including the new Natural History GCSE. With over 25 years’ experience in curriculum and assessment, she shapes policy-informed, evidence-based approaches to embed these priorities across education.
Dr Bethan Garrett is Lecturer in the Morecambe Bay Curriculum at 果酱视频官网. Beth's role as a lecturer includes both an academic position in the Department of Educational Research and a member of the team exploring the development, implementation and impact of the Morecambe Bay Curriculum. Her research interests are currently focused on coastal education and beach schools, specifically investigating how these alternative approaches to teaching and learning could subvert social, educational, economic and health disparities. Her work connects with place-based learning, community education and sustainable development.
Mehmood Mulla is Skills & Economic Intelligence Manager at the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub, where he brings data to life to inform skills, employment and economic strategy. With over 14 years’ experience, he specialises in translating labour market insight into practical action—supporting better decisions, stronger outcomes and a more responsive skills system.
Eleanor Hooson teaches year 2, 3 and 4 at Beetham CofE Primary School in Milnthorpe, Cumbria. She is one of eight lead teachers from across the region who have worked with university researchers to co-create engaging resources that will be shared at the conference. Eleanor has focussed on Primary History, and co-created resources to help learners understand and engage with coastal change through the ages.
Michelle Cooper is Deputy CEO of Morecambe Bay Partnership. Michelle spent 15 years working as a curator and manager in museums across the Northwest coast before joining the charity Morecambe Bay Partnership in 2014. With a background spanning maritime collections, oral history, exhibitions, schools' programmes and community engagement, she is passionate about collaborating with local communities, organisations and volunteers to build meaningful connections to Morecambe Bay. Over the past 12 years, Michelle has delivered a wide range of heritage, nature and place?based cultural programmes around the Bay and leads the community engagement team.
Having lived and worked in Lancashire since 2012, Morecambe Bay has become Anthony’s second home. An experienced artist, producer, and practitioner, he has spent the last 19 years delivering programmes for, by and with children and young people. With socially engaged practices at the core of his work, he is uniquely placed to support young people on their social action journeys. Ant took up the role of Youth Programmes Lead on the Our Bay, Our Future Project in 2026.
Dr Alisha Mohindra is Schools Engagement Officer (Partnership Seed and Science Community Grants) at The Royal Society, where she supports teachers across the UK who teach students aged 5-18 years to apply for Partnership Grant opportunities. She also works with Partnership Seed Grant and Science Community Grant holders, supporting STEM organisations who work with clusters of schools. She previously worked in the Student Recruitment and Widening Access team at the University of Leicester, where she also obtained her MChem and PhD in Chemistry.
Claire Harris has lived on and off in the local area for 40 years and attended a local prismary school and Ripley St Thomas in Lancaster before following a career in Nature Conservation across Northern Britain. For the last 3 years she has worked for Natural England as a Health and Environment Higher Officer within Cumbria, Lancaster and Morecambe. Her role is to encourage a connection with nature to benefit health and wellbeing, through the support of green social prescribing, bringing nature to where people live and the promotion of Nature Connection.
Rebecca Carroll is HR Manager at EDF Energy, Heysham 1 Power Station. She graduated from Keele University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management/Environmental Management and worked as a HR Manager at Sainsburys before starting with EDF Energy in 2013. She now manages the HR function across Heysham 1 Power Station, working with the senior lead team to align the people strategy for safe and reliable generation of electricity.
John Pye is Project Director of Eden Project Morecambe, working with a multi-disciplinary team overseeing construction, horticulture and visitor experience while aligning with the Eden Project’s vision of public benefit and sustainability. John has over 20 years of specialist experience delivering world-class projects. He acted as Head of Estates North at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) where he led the development of RHS Garden Bridgewater in Greater Manchester. John’s previous roles also include Director of Capital Projects at Blackpool and The Fylde College and Acting Head of Project Delivery at 果酱视频官网 Estate Management.
Tina Milner is the Operational Hub Lead for Lancashire Careers Hub, where she works with schools and colleges across the region to develop high-quality careers programmes. She supports education settings to connect with local employers and coordinates business volunteers to provide meaningful encounters that help students explore future pathways. Tina is passionate about ensuring every young person has access to inspiring and relevant careers education.
Pete is founder of Morecambe Bay Chowder Co, a family-run food business that celebrates the produce of Morecambe Bay. He serves from a solar-powered tricycle on Morecambe Promenade and at markets & events throughout North Lancashire and South Cumbria. The chowder is also stocked in selected Booths cafés and independent retailers across the region.
Elli Clark is the Youth Engagement Lead at Another Way, an environmental charity with the mission to empower people to live with kindness towards our planet. Elli works with young people across schools, youth groups and other settings to engage them in climate action. She also attends events to spread the Power of 10 message. She is a Geographer and has always worked with young people, sharing her passion for the environment and teaching about the impacts we have on the world.
